Erin first discovered yoga in a northern Virginia gym in 2010 as a complement to her long distance running regimen. In addition to the many physical benefits of asana, she quickly discovered that the peaceful introspection involved in the practice helped her to better manage stress levels at work, school and in life, and to live more fully in the present moment. After moving to Arlington in 2012, she found the Tranquil Space community and was immediately at home. She completed her 200-hour teacher training certification with Tranquil Space in December 2013 and is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200) with the Yoga Alliance.
A creature lover at heart, her approach to teaching reflects her approach to life – best described through the yama ahimsa (non-harming). With a teaching style that has been described as encouraging, creative and challenging, she works to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere where students are comfortable exploring their own edge without self-judgment while continuing to discover ways to expand their physical and mental practice. She values a community environment, and encourages students to engage with one another and with her before and after classes. She views music selection as a creative endeavor that provides an important complement to class sequencing, and carefully selects music for classes from a variety of genres including folk, alternative, jazz, classical, country, pop, hip-hop and reggae (check out the Playlists page for an archive of her yoga class playlists!)
